It is with deep sadness that we learn of the passing of Dan Barry. Dan and his late wife Pat were the life and soul of Rockland’s Emerald Ball, coordinating all elements of the event for many, many years. The Emerald Ball has not only been the traditional start of the month long celebration of Irish heritage and culture in Rockland, but for many people throughout the Tri-State area who often complimented the Ball as one of the premier events of the season.
Though Dan had relocated to St. Louis after the passing of his beloved Pat, he still kept in touch with his friends in Rockland. Dan was known for his ready wit and wry sense of humor. He was the model of an Irish American gentleman of the old school and set a high bar for those of us whom he has left to aspire to; we shall not see his like again.
Eternal Rest Grant unto Him Oh Lord, and May Perpetual Light Shine on Him. May Dan and Pat rest and peace and continue to pray and advocate for us in these trying times for our community.
