Patrick Withers is a proud son of Irish immigrants, with family roots in County Fermanagh and County Donegal. A lifelong resident of Rockland County, Patrick was born and raised in Suffern, New York, and is the son of the late Danny and Bridget Withers. From a young age, he was immersed in the rich traditions and values of Irish culture. These principles have guided his lifelong dedication to the Irish American community.
Patrick’s distinguished record of public service began in 1993 when he joined the New York City Police Department, starting his career at the 52nd Precinct in the Bronx. His professionalism, integrity, and courage earned him a position in the NYPD’s elite Intelligence Division, where he was repeatedly recognized with commendations for exemplary service. Patrick’s years in law enforcement not only reflect his commitment to public safety but also his steadfast dedication to
serving others.
Upon retiring from the NYPD, Patrick returned to his hometown of Suffern to take over his family’s business, Ireland’s 32, a cornerstone of the Rockland County Irish community for over 25 years. Under his leadership, Ireland’s 32 became a welcoming space for countless Irish American events, including Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) meetings and communion breakfasts. In recognition of his contributions, Patrick was named AOH Businessman of the Year, a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and community focus. Never one to rest, Patrick later returned to public service, where he has made a lasting impact through a variety of leadership roles. His positions have included Rockland County Legislator for District 12, Police Commissioner for the Ramapo Police Department, and Deputy Supervisor for the Town of Ramapo. In each of these roles, Patrick has been a tireless advocate for the community, securing critical funding and grants, including support for AOH initiatives aimed at expanding community engagement.
Today, Patrick serves as the Director of Intergovernmental Relations and Public Safety for the Rockland County Legislature, continuing his legacy of leadership, service, and integrity. Patrick’s commitment to Irish heritage remains at the heart of his identity. He is a proud and active member of the Rockland County AOH Division 4, where he has served on the Executive Board for the past five years. He has been a dedicated member of the Executive Parade Committee and the Emerald Ball Journal Committee for over 15 years. In addition, Patrick is a member of both the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick and the Rockland County Police Emerald Society Pipes and Drums, where he recently chaired the celebration of the organization’s 30th anniversary.
In closing, Patrick Withers has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to Irish heritage and public service throughout his life. A respected leader and dedicated advocate for the AOH and broader Rockland community, he would be deeply honored to follow in the footsteps of his father, Danny Withers, who served as Grand Marshal in 1991. Patrick’s lifelong dedication makes him a truly deserving candidate to lead the 2026 St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
