
Patrick J. Casey is an Orangetown Police Officer, the President of The Orangetown Police Benevolent Association (PBA), and a board-member of the Rockland County PBA. Patrick grew up in Orangetown, NY, with his parents, James Colin and Jane Anne, and his two sisters, Sinead and Meghan.
A natural leader, he graduated from Tappan Zee High School in2007, where he served as Captain of the Varsity Basketball team, developing his competitive spirit and earning numerous accolades, including a position on the 1st Team All-County. He continued his academic journey at Manhattan College, graduating in 2011 with a Bachelor of Art in Government and Sociology. At Manhattan College, Patrick actively embraced leadership and community involvement. He served as President and Vice President of the Student Government. He also led the Gaelic Society, where he reinstated Gaelic football, and the College Republicans, where he revitalized engagement with national campaigns. During this time, he completed a prestigious internship with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, launching his law enforcement career.
In 2014, Patrick fulfilled a lifelong dream by joining the Orangetown Police Department, following in the footsteps of his father, who served the department for over 20 years. He quickly became active in the Orangetown Police Benevolent Association, taking on increasing responsibilities. In 2021, he was elected President. Under his leadership, the PBA has raised substantial funds for members and charities, navigated a departmental merger, created new positions, and negotiated a well-received contract. Patrick also serves as the Public Information Officer for the Rockland County PBA, where he advocates for legislative changes to secure officer benefits and remains active in state and national police organizations.
Patrick’s Irish heritage is a significant part of his identity. He is a proud member of AOH Division 3 and the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. On Sundays you can find Patrick on the diamond with the AOH Softball league, in which he is a member of good standing, or coaching basketball for St. Aedan’s CYO. He grew up playing Gaelic football with the Rockland GAA, a club founded by his maternal grandfather, Edmund Shanley, an immigrant from County Leitrim, Ireland.
Patrick is proud to serve as this year’s Parade Commander—60 years after his great-grandfather, Patrick Casey, marched as Grand Marshal. Passionate about Irish culture, history, and music, Patrick values time spent in both NY and Ireland with family and friends, discovering and celebrating his Irish roots. A proactive and dedicated police officer, Patrick takes pride in serving his community and fellow officers. He has received multiple commendations for his outstanding work in the field. In 2024,Patrick was recognized by the Irish Echo as an Irish Labor Ambassador. Patrick has also been honored by the Town of Orangetown, the Haverstraw Elks Lodge, the American Legion, the RCPBA, the Rockland County Shields, and the Town of Haverstraw for his police work. He has received multiple commendations for exceptional merit, meritorious police duty, excellent police duty, and lifesaving efforts. Patrick lives in Orangetown with his partner, Kalynn Burns, a fellow law enforcement officer and Marine Corps veteran, and their German Shepherd, Stella. In December 2024, Patrick earned the title of a lifetime—“Dad” to his daughter, Austin Dawn Case
