The Gracie Rose isn’t just a tea shop, it’s a celebration of Irish culture and cuisine, brought to life by three extraordinary women who embody the spirit of community, tradition, and entrepreneurship. This shop has become a beloved destination for residents of Pearl River and beyond. The shop features an authentic menu including many Irish classics along with a retail shop filled with unique gifts and imported goods. From their “scone of the month” to afternoon tea, every detail reflects the dedication and passion of its owners,
Tina Murphy, Bernadette “Bernie” Fitzgerald, and Tara McDonald, affectionately known as, “The Three Biddies.”
The success of The Gracie Rose is rooted in the owners’ deep connections to Irish culture and their unwavering commitment to excellence. The Biddies have immense gratitude to their loyal customers for their continuous support.
Tina Murphy, a Pearl River native with strong ties to Connemara, Co. Galway, spent many summers immersed in Irish traditions, fostering a lifelong love for its food and hospitality. Her warm personality and vision for The Gracie Rose have made it a welcoming haven for
everyone, from seasoned fans of Irish fare to those discovering it for the first time.
Bernadette “Bernie” Fitzgerald, originally from Killorglin, Co. Kerry, emigrated to New York at 17, bringing with her a legacy of cherished family recipes passed down from her late mother, Bridie Foley. A Pearl River resident for over two decades, Bernie’s culinary expertise shines in every dish served at The Gracie Rose. Her niece and the café’s baker, Emma Gilheany, carries on their family’s baking traditions, creating treats that are as authentic as they are delicious.
Tara McDonald, whose heritage ties her to Co. Leitrim and Scotland, grew up immersed in Irish culture through competitive Irish dance. Her experiences performing and traveling throughout Ireland and North America gave her a deep appreciation for the traditions she now shares at The Gracie Rose.
Together, Tina, Bernie, and Tara have built more than a business, they’ve created a community hub that celebrates heritage, connection, and exceptional quality. Their shared passions and dedication have not only established The Gracie Rose as a cherished part of the Rockland County community but also earned them recognition as Business Persons of the Year. Through their hard work and vision, they have transformed The Gracie Rose into a testament to the power of culture, creativity, and collaboration.
