William St and E Washington Ave. Please be reminded\, The Town of Orangetown Town Code Local Law No. 2 Chapter 10 states: Open bottles or containers in which there is an alcoholic beverage are prohibited by law. \nPlease Note that we have been informed by the Orangetown Police Department that they will be closing the parade route to traffic at Noon.  Crooked Hill will be closed at Dove St.. All vehicles must be in place before the closure. If you need to go to the parking lot after 12\, you will have to approach from Nanuet. \nThe Line of March May be Found Here \nA message from Ancient  Order of Hibernian’s Men’s County Board President John McGowan and Ladies’ Ancient  Order of Hibernian  County Board  President Lillian Murphy For the past 56 years\, the men and women of the Rockland County Ancient Order of Hibernians have been pleased to host their annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade\, an event that has become a Rockland County institution. The parade celebrates our pride in our Irish heritage\, and we take equal pride in it also being an event that has brought in spectators from around the world\, state\, county\, etc.\, and an opportunity to bring families and friends together in a day of wholesome recognition and celebration of the contributions of Irish Americans to our community and country. An event such as the Rockland County St. Patrick’s Day Parade which draws tens of thousands of people would be impossible without the hospitality of the Town of Orangetown\, the hamlet of Pearl River and the professionalism of its first responders\, particularly the Orangetown Police department\, who provide a friendly and safe environment for the day’s proceedings. \nOne of the oldest Irish values is the custom of hospitality and the obligation of courtesy and respect that is incumbent on a guest to their host. In keeping with the spirit of the day and the celebration of our heritage\, the Parade Committee asks all participants and spectators to honor this venerable Irish tradition and show the proper courtesy and respect to the businesses of Pearl River and to comply with all directions of the Orangetown Police Department\, particularly observing regulations on parking and open containers. The Rockland County Ancient Order of Hibernians ask that all participants remember the true meaning of the day: to celebrate St. Patrick and the generations of Irish Americans who have dedicated and sacrificed themselves for America and not be part of the trivialization of the holiday into the “St. Patty’s Day” image of T-shirt makers and other 21st Century “Know Nothings” whose only respect of “the green” is the “the green of the till”. Keeping the parade the joyous yet dignified and responsible celebration that the day deserves will help ensure that we can keep this great tradition alive for years to come.

SUMMARY:Ceol Mór Bagpipe Competition and Festival July 22\, 2017
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce that the Rockland County Ancient Order of Hibernians will be hosting a Ceol Mór Festival that will include a pipe and drum competition on Saturday\, July 22\, 2017\, at the Rockland GAA fields in Orangeburg\, N.Y. We cordially invite you to join us for a complete day of competition with individual piping and drumming competition for players at all levels in the morning followed by band competitions for Grades 2–5 in the afternoon. \nAs you may know\, there was void left last year when the Rockland County Féis cancelled their annual competition that\, for many years\, was the premier piping and drumming event in the tri-state area. The Rockland County AOH is proud to take on this tradition and carry this competition forward as Ceol Mór; a day of games that will be run “by pipers\, for pipers.” We are also pleased to announce that this competition has been sanctioned by E.U.S.P.B.A. \nDue to strong feedback from several players and bands\, we have moved the competition to a Saturday rather than Sunday. We are looking for more feedback from you on what we can do to make this competition as special and as player-friendly as possible and welcome all ideas\, suggestions\, and comments. Our emails and phone numbers are listed below. \nThe Registration form for the Bagpipe Band Competition may be found here \nThe Registration form for the Individual Competition may be found here \nWe look forward to hearing from you and hope to see you on July 22nd. \nThank you very much\, \nDermot & Jim \nDermot Moore                              Jim McDonnell \ndermotomoore@gmail.com          Jimmac786@verizon.net \n646-302-5111                                                845-826-0941

SUMMARY:Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the 1916 Proclamation
DESCRIPTION:On Easter Sunday April 24\, 1916\, Irish men and women reminded the world that Ireland was still a Nation seeking its freedom….. \nThe Ancient Order of Hibernians men and women\, along with cooperating Irish-American Organizations\, will commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Easter Rising of 1916. It is the goal of the Committee to remember with reverence and honor the sacrifices made that day\, 100 years ago\, when the blood of heroes gave us a Nation Once Again. \nIt was the courage and determination of those men and women that renewed the cause of nationalism among the Irish people. Too long had England deprived the Irish people of their culture\, a culture that was inclusive of their language\, their sports\, their music\, their dance and their literature. Without a ‘culture’\, there is no nation. Therefore\, it was the purpose of those Heroes to rebuild the Nation of a Republic of Ireland by recreating the Irish Culture. \nAll seven signatories were convicted of treason by a military court and executed at Kilmainham Jail by firing squad. Their execution stirred the people\, especially since they were not even allowed a proper funeral with the families. Instead they were placed in a common grave with quicklime placed on their bodies. The uprising was over\, but a spark had been lit and led to the Irish Free State being established in 1922. The Republic of Ireland became a reality in 1949. \nCOME – Join with the Irish-American Community of Rockland County New York as we commemorate what took place 100 years ago in Dublin\, Ireland. In our statement of purpose for the commemoration\, we remind our community that we are Ireland’s exiled children in America. Let the words of the Irish National Anthem be our guide: “…some have come from a land beyond the wave.” In America and Ireland\, support was given to these Heroes of Easter Week 1916 that Irishmen of future generations might control their own destiny. Perhaps the day of a United Ireland will soon be a reality. \nJoin us as we remember those Heroes on the Centenary of the Easter Rising on April 24\, 1916.\nPlace:  Rockland GAA Fields \nEvents:  Mass         10:30 AM \nParade      12 Noon \nCeremony 12:45 \nLuncheon 2:00 Pearl River Hilton \nFor information call Jim Russell (845) 300-2930\, Lillian Murphy (845) 461-4353 or Jim McDonnell (845) 825-9260 \nSponsored by the Man and Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians\, Rockland Irish Northern Aid MacBride\, Rockland GAA and the Council of Irish Assoc. of Greater Bergen County

SUMMARY:Traditional Irish Rambling House

This was a house where people congregated for gossip\, storytelling – and perhaps the odd song and dance late into the night. \nDoors open at 7 pm  upstairs at Hibernian House.  Free Admission\, Tea / Soda Bread.  A cash bar is available \nOpen Mic Night\, All Talent Welcome.
